Obituary For Joan Barden
Mrs. Joan Barden, age 75 of Athens, GA passed July 29, 2026.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, August 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Olive Seventh-day Adventist Church, 465 Nellie B. Ave, Athens, GA with interment at the Mausoleum of Evergreen Memorial Park.
Public viewing, Saturday 5-7 PM, at the funeral home.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, R.T. Johnson and Alma Jones Johnson; her sisters, Mollie Spencer Martin and Alma Marie Killingsworth; and her brothers, Robert Johnson, Murray Johnson, and Eddie Johnson.
Survivors include: her devoted husband of 56 years, Herbert C. Barden; loving children, Maya Bailey (Richard), Kara Barden DeSanchez and Herbert J. Barden; cherished grandchildren, Kaden M. Bailey, Nolan G. Bailey, Carter A. DeSanchez and MiaRose E. DeSanchez; sister, Cora Lee; brother, Linnard Johnson; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Joan was not just my church friend—she became someone very special to me. I'm grateful that God allowed our paths to cross and gave me the opportunity to know her. I will always remember her smile, her kindness, and the little moments we shared. Sometimes it's the simple conversations and everyday moments that become the memories we treasure the most. My heart is heavy knowing she is no longer here with us, but I find comfort in knowing that Joan is now resting in the presence of the Lord. Joan, you will be truly missed. My Sister, I still haven't wrapped my head around the quickness of your passing,God will help me..Joan Barden was my Playmate,My Follower,we shared the same Bed and Toys.
