Obituary For Rev. Dr. Lee A. Lawson
Rev. Dr. Lee A. Lawson, age 80, of Selma, AL entered eternal rest on December 2, 2021.
Dr. Lawson was born on January 17, 1941 in Selma, AL and leaves to cherish his memories: his children, Xuam Lawson (Rigena), Zaire Lawson (Sabrina), Yyokkia Lawson and Waissa Lawson; the mother of his children, Hattie Spruill Lawson; his siblings, Rene Lawson Pol and Michael Lawson (Yvette); a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Lawson and Sarah Lewis Lawson; his stepmother, Louise Lawson; and his siblings, Linda Lewis and Kim Edward Lawson.
What Dr. Lawson cherished most was his relationship with God, having been baptized at his beloved home church, Everdale Baptist Church, when he was 12 years old. Upon graduating from Brantley High School in Selma, he spent the early part of his adulthood in Brooklyn, NY where he received a B.A. in Economics from York College (Jamaica, NY) and M.B.A. from Manhattan College (Bronx, NY). He later moved his family to Athens, GA where he was a long-time member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, West. He went on to receive an M.A. in Christian Education from Christian College of Georgia (Athens, GA) and eventually a Doctorate of Ministry degree. In his professional life, Dr. Lawson was a Licensed Real Estate Broker and Instructor, a Certified Property Manager and a Certified Real Estate Property Appraiser and Instructor. In later years, he served as an Associate Minister at Freedom Baptist Church in Selma, under the leadership of Rev. James A. Spicer.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm at Everdale Baptist Church, 77 County Rd 888, Selma, AL 36703 on Saturday, December 18, 2021. Masks are required. The service will be streamed via YouTube Live at https://youtu.be/D0a6kT2DuXM. A wake will be held at Walker Mortuary, 1703 Broad St, Selma, AL 36701 on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
Burial will take place at Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens, GA.
